There are dozens of marketing vehicles that are used by companies all over the world, but nothing has withstood the test of time like the product catalog. The catalog continues to be one of the few tools that allow you “time” to tell your story about your product. A catalog remains in your customer’s hands for a longer period of time, yet avoids traditional high pressure tactics. Customers like catalogs. The catalog is a tangible reminder of your products, even if it leads to your online information.
Between The Lions has designed catalogs of many sizes and formats. It may be in the form of a small brochure or even as an on-going loose notebook. There is plenty of room to play when dreaming of what your catalog might be.

Packages have to speak for themselves on the shelf… With a more unique look or pitch than the competition. Boxes for cookies. Boxes that look like milk cartons. Boxes with peek-a-boo holes. Boxes that look like bags. I really love the possibilities of boxes and prefer to create packaging that looks warm and inviting.

lost_t_chili_sauce__beandip-low_res.jpg

My designs encourage the potential buyer to pick up my packages in order to take a close look. If a package makes the consumer pick it up, it’s more likely to be purchased. Memorable, colorful, friendly, fun, or as an appeal to an emotion, my box designs usually cause the customer to stop and respond.

cheese_snacks_box_op_424×600.jpg

In most box designs, people want to know what they are buying, especially in the case of food products - one of my favorite things to package. Cut outs or “windows” allow the buyer to take a look. As with most design projects, there are often unyielding budget restraints.

tia_concha_label_pink.jpg

This might bring us to a standard box that already has a die-cut — to save on cost. Another possibility is to show a photo or illustration of the product on the box. Let’s talk about whether or not a box should be a consideration in your package design

contact.jpg

dh.jpgAs a designer who has developed the image and graphic presentation for dozens of businesses, large and small, I know how to make graphics commercial and how to increase direct mail response through the use of such subtleties as color or purely a unique or surprising concept. I understand delivering the business message, business to business or to the masses. From logo design or product packaging, to the collateral that maximizes the corporate or product identity, I thrive on the demands of commercial creativity, on progressive ideas, and creative marketing opportunities.

With over twenty-five years in the field of entrepreneurial endeavors, I’ve acted as creative director, art director, designer, illustrator, production artist, account executive, producer, office manager, employer, business manager, writer, food stylist, makeup artist, and more. For years, I have successfully become an extension of the client, expressing their objectives and vision through verbiage and graphic communication. Singularly, or with a team, I can meet the challenge of graphic design: blending analysis and objective with art and emotion. Together, we can persuade the consumer. I have clients that have worked with me for more than 25 years. As a matter of fact, much of my business has been through recommendations from my loyal clients and suppliers.

I work with, and sometimes for, many talented people. If my style or capabilities are not what you are looking for, others will be made available. Through my network, I can offer illustration, copywriting, package design and development, photography, web page design, as well as the programming of intelligent intranet sites or software development. I can coordinate all aspects of any creative endeavor. One of the benefits of my association with other “creatives” is that I use only the size team of people needed. Therefore, overhead is kept under close scrutiny.

Blending the demands of customer needs, creativity, budget, deadlines, and strategy is the challenge consistently faced in graphic design and overall marketing communication; these are the “Lions” of “Between the Lions.”

Being a graphic designer, centrally located in Kansas City, Missouri, I feel that I offer more affordable pricing for design and printing than found on the East or West Coasts. You are certainly welcome to compare. Many 4-pack carrier and 6-pack carrier requests have come from various areas of the country. The random sampling of soda carriers shown are my designs that were created to fit an existing carrier template. Your supplier or printer of carriers can give you their template to create your design. If you don’t have a supplier, I know of some very dependable 4 or 6 pack carrier brokers and printers. It depends on your particular need as to where I would direct you.

queen_bea_s_trio.jpg

The Queen Bea’z Honey Toasted Nuts 3-Pack Carrier is my art design, and, it is also my own template design. If you are interested in carriers for beer, I have created quite a few 6-pack beer carriers and it is essentially the same process as soda carriers. Carriers can house more than beverage products. We have created carriers for fund raising candy, body lotion sets, flower pot gift sets, and other types of products. Keep an open mind about carriers.

For yourself, your business, service, or product, a visual image is the first impression. This first impression sets the tone for how easy or difficult it will be to connect with your particular audience. Even the written word can seal your fate. Take control of what your clients see and feel from your presentation. You’ve heard it many times; “You will not get a second chance to make a first impression”.

Originality and creativity determine much of a project’s outcome. Successful results also involve research, budget constraints, and teamwork. Well planned branding is one of the most important tools you can provide to your sales effort. Consider bouncing ideas around with a seasoned, creative director. I, and/or my network of creative people, have what you’ve been looking for; unique ideas and the means to implement them.

Clients have placed their valued trust in my work and decisions since 1979. Yes, my clients seem to prefer working directly with me, the creative director, not a sales person. And I prefer the personalized approach, as well. I would love to be of service when your next creative project is getting ready to “come out of the cage”. Feel free to contact me to discuss possibilities and, perhaps, together we can establish the expedition’s destination.
